The Challenges Of Giving
I am visiting the African continent and I can assure you that this is the best time to visit this part of the planet. From November to March, it is winter in Canada. Escaping the cold of the winter to warmer places is always a preferred choice. In order to achieve this, you need to plan for your trip. Before you go, please do your research about the countries you are visiting. Find out about the entry requirements. If you need to do your business over there, make sure you get the right permits.
I don’t just travel to have fun. I travel to discover new places and new people. I want to understand what is more important to them in life and discuss with them the best options to achieve the happiest and most fulfilling life, a life of their dreams! I feel more and more like a citizen of the world as my country, Canada, is a conversion of all the people of the world. All I am trying to say is that, there is no country, no ethnic, political, religious… group that is not represented in Canada. The people of my country live in harmony with each other and we are stronger that way.
I always feel like my mission for the rest of my life is to love people, no matter who they are and what direction of life they have taken. Following your passion is what I cherish every day.
“It’s true: the rule of treating others as you would want to be treated in their place will ultimately lead to your own happiness.”
When I meet new people from different backgrounds, different countries, I feel like it is a blessing to keep and protect those identities. But at the same time, I love to feel that beyond those differences, there is a bond that unites us: the love for humanity.
This evening I was walking in the suburbs of Windhoek and children stopped me. They asked: what tribe are you from? I couldn’t have the answer. I just replied that I was coming from Canada. I love kids. They were all around me, smiling, very happy even though you could see that they needed some help.
I felt that I could give them a gift, small things like toys, books etc. Then a grown up citizen who was watching reminded me that it was not wise to give money to children. That person said that I needed parents’ permission to give a gift to their kids.
I have talked to one family in need already. I have decided to help their daughter for her school. Making a choice is not easy but in the end ,you close your eyes and let the heart make her own choice. The only guilt you feel is that you did not take them all. But in the end, you can’t save the world, you can only save the world of one person at the time.
Kavee is 12 years old. She is in grade 5. She was conceived when her mother was a teenager and when she was born, her mother left her under her grandmother’s care without sufficient means to take care of her. Kavee confided me that she wanted some help to continue her studies and one day, become a teacher. I was profoundly touched by her story and promised her and her family that I will do everything it takes to get the permission from the Government as well and start helping her the way I can.
I wish it was so simple. Every good things happen at a price. You can understand the concerns of the parents and their government if you consider cases of child molestation by certain ill-intentioned people. No one can read your heart and find out your true intentions and the best way is to be cautious.
That could be the reason why gGovernments set up tough rules and conditions for charitable organizations.
In the meantime, children in need will keep suffering and people who really want to make a difference in their lives and the lives of others will have to work hard to get the green light that in the beginning seemed to be a natural one.
Courage and continue the activities for helping the kids no matter and without of relation with you.
